Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 12, 2026. We collect only what we need to make your store work better, nothing more.
1. What this covers
This policy describes how Slide (“we,” “us”) handles information when you install our Shopify app, visit our website, or contact support. It applies to merchants who install Slide and the shoppers who interact with a store that runs it.
2. Information we collect
From merchants
- Store URL, Shopify-issued access tokens, and the permission scopes you approve during install.
- Product catalog, inventory, discounts, and order data Slide needs to render the cart, answer chat, and power search.
- Contact details you give us (name, email) and any billing identifiers Shopify sends us.
- Usage logs from your admin settings — which toggles you flipped, which rules you created.
From shoppers
- Pseudonymous session identifiers so we can remember a cart across pages.
- Cart contents, search queries, and chat messages you send to the assistant.
- Device-level metadata (user agent, approximate region) used to keep the experience stable and detect abuse.
We do not collect credit-card details — Shopify handles checkout end-to-end.
3. How we use it
- To run the Slide cart, AI chat, search, and upsell features on your storefront.
- To make the AI better — chat prompts and completions may be reviewed in aggregate to improve responses. Merchants can disable this per store.
- To bill you, email receipts, and send product updates you didn’t opt out of.
- To investigate abuse, fraud, and suspicious activity.
4. Who we share with
We share data only with the service providers that make Slide run:
- Shopify — the source of truth for orders, products, and billing.
- Cloud hosting & databases (AWS, Cloudflare) to store and serve data.
- AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) to generate chat responses. Data sent to them is not used for their model training.
- Analytics (PostHog) for aggregated product usage.
We never sell personal data. We disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users.
5. Data retention
Merchant data is retained while your store has Slide installed, and for 90 days after uninstall so you can reinstall without losing configuration. After that, we delete or anonymize it. Chat transcripts are kept for 180 days, then purged.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal data. Email [email protected] and we’ll respond within 30 days.
7. International transfers
Slide is operated from the United States. If you’re in the EU, UK, or another region with data-transfer rules, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses to move data across borders.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Access to production is limited to a small team, logged, and reviewed. We run regular backups and test our recovery process.
9. Children
Slide is a B2B product for Shopify merchants. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
10. Changes
We’ll update this page when things change and note the date at the top. Material changes get announced by email to merchants on file.
